The principle of obligation is an important foundation that establishes laws for coexistence among Islamic sects and alleviates the difficulties that may arise due to their jurisprudential differences. These differences can potentially create a kind of social alienation or distance. The principle aims to mitigate these difficulties and establish coexistence among the sects for individuals and groups.
Sheikh Hussein Al-Hilli has extensively researched this principle from various perspectives. He clarified its meaning, foundations, conditions, and alignment with other principles. He also discussed its significant and practical applications today.
