An-Neel Its History and its Distinguished Personalities

Abstract

An-Neel is considered one of the places that has had a great echo
in the Islamic history due to its distinguished position between Wasit and Al-Kufa and the multiplicity of events and wars which afflicted the states and emirates which governed it, either in isolation or as annexed to Al-Hilla afterwards. This is in addition to the existence of many famous scholars pertaining to it: living in it, coming frequently to it, or singing the praises of its great river which intervenes it.
The present paper rests on the two historical and literary aspects,
including the geographical aspect. We do not pretend that we
are the first who have written in this respect, but we claim that we
are the first who have presented such a comprehensive study of this
place.
